All art created by Leone Erskine

Leone Erskine was born in 1898 in Door County Wisconsin, and later became a school teacher in a one room school house in Door County. After raising three children, at the age of 62 Leone decided to pursue her passion and obtained a university degree in fine art under the teacher who inspired her work, Sister Thomasita. As well as a passion for art, Leone loved nature or "natural history" as she called it, and cared for the environment. Even though I only knew her for her last few years of her life, until she died at 103, Leone (my great-grandmother), and the stories my family tells me about her continue to inspire me. As I am trying to figure out my future, I feel a connection to her because of our similar interest in art and sustaining our environment.

Caine's Arcade

So cute!

Fish Plates

I went to Anthropologie in Yorkville for the first time today with my aunt, who was taking me to buy me a present for my birthday! It was lots of fun, I ended up getting some really cute paisley shorts from the gap.  Anyways, as we were walking around Anthropologie I saw all of these plates with fish on them under neath a table and it was love at first sight, so I made a note in my phone to post a picture of them on my blog. Then I got home and saw one of the fish plates on my dining room table from Anthropologie! My Mom bought one a few days ago because she loved it so much!!!! Funny eh?

Cake with Giants

I love all of the cute watercolour doodles from cakewithgiants, but today I was feeling herby! Amy Borrel makes everything she paints look adorable, I even wanted to take a little grey cat out of the screen to cuddle with and I'm not a big cat person at all!

Pinterest

I just got a pinterest account, yet another social media site I have to keep track of! But I must say I'm really enjoying pinterest. It is much like weheartit except you pin pictures instead of hearting things you like from all over the web, or from people you follow. The big positive difference between weheartit and pinterest is that the quality of the photos on pinterest is generally better. I am also finding that the photos on the site are more my style than those on weheartit. All in all Pinterest has earned a daily visit from me! You should try it out!

(Below are some of my first pins!)
